Kinnely Cutting Board Care
Proper care ensures your Kinnely cutting board stays beautiful and functional for years. Follow these simple steps to protect, nourish, and maintain your wood surface.
Oiling Your Board
Apply Kinnely Nourish Oil at least once a month—or more often for heavy use. Using a clean cloth, disposable towel, or Kinnely applicator, spread an even coat over all surfaces. A dry or dull appearance means it’s time to oil. Ensure the board is free of food debris, grease, or dirt before application.
Allow the oil to absorb overnight, then wipe off any excess. Apply extra oil to dry areas as needed, but avoid over-oiling.
Enhancing Protection
For additional care, apply Kinnely Board Cream. Spread an even layer, allow it to penetrate overnight, and then wipe away excess. The cream forms a silky barrier that shields your board from moisture and stains.
Maintenance Tips
- Keep the original bevel on the edges to prevent splitting or chipping.
- Distribute cutting across the surface to ensure even wear. Turn reversible boards periodically.
- Minor scratches can be sanded gently with fine-grit (#200) sandpaper. Always sand with the grain and remove all dust before re-oiling.
Cleaning Instructions
- Remove food debris and liquids with a scraper or spatula.
- Wipe the board with a cloth and mild soap-and-water solution, then rinse and wipe again to remove soap residue.
- Dry thoroughly with a clean towel and allow remaining moisture to air dry before reapplying oil.
Caution
- Do not leave fresh meat, fish, or liquids standing on the board; moisture can weaken wood joints.
- Always oil the board before cutting fish, seafood, or poultry, and clean thoroughly afterward.
- Avoid razor-edged cleavers or serrated knives—they can chip the wood.
- Never use harsh detergents or put the board in a dishwasher.
- Do not over-oil; a thin, even coat is sufficient.
Kinnely Nourish Oil penetrates deeply to revitalize and protect wood fibers. Kinnely Board Cream adds a luxurious wax barrier to guard against moisture and stains. With proper care, your Kinnely cutting board will remain a centerpiece in your kitchen for years to come.
